The Castle of Montjuic, Living History of BarcelonaSince 1640 the Castle of Montjuic is on top of the mountain of Montjuic. It is situated over 170 meters high, offering the most spectacular views of the Port of Barcelona. Engineer Juan Martín Cermeño ordered to destroy the ancient fortress of 1640 to convert the fort and shape the buildings afterwards. In the works between 1779 and 1799 the castle took the form it has today.
TransportMetro Lines 1 and 3 stop at the station Plaza España from where you can easily access the Castle of Montjuic. Teleférico The Teleférico (Aerial Tramway) of Montjuic takes you to the Castle from the Avenida Miramar.
