La Casa Batllo, a historic RenovationLa Casa Batllo is another famous work of architect Antoni Gaudí, located in Paseo de Gracia. The building was built in 1875. But it became the Casa Batlló as we know it now after a renovation ordered by the owner at that time, José Batlló. At first the idea was to demolish the old house and build a new one, but in 1904 it was decided to reform it under the leadership of Gaudí. The most striking aspect of the remodeling was the facade that is easily recognized as a work of Gaudí. The Casa Batlló was restored in 1970 and in 1999. Since 2005 it is a World Heritage Site from UNESCO.
