Antonio Gaudi

Antonio Gaudi was famous for all of his Barcelona architecture, but most famously known for his amazing cathedral - La Sagrada Familia - which even to this day has not yet been completed!

Gaudi was born in 1852, in a town called Reus according to his official documents, however some say that he was actually born in a little village close to Reus.

His first pieces were of a gothic architecture style, but he soon developed his own unique style which made him a pioneer in the architecture world.

His work is devoid of the usual straight lines. Gaudi was a nature lover and used natures curves for inspiration in his designs.

The four best known pieces of Gaudi Architecture in Barcelona are La Sagrada Familia, Casa Mila (La Pedrera), Casa Batllo and Park Guell.

There are however many other buildings providing great examples of his work.

A less known fact are the lamposts which he was asked to design for the city of Barcelona. These can still be seen in the Pla de Palau and in the Plaça Reial in Barcelona, and many people pass by them without knowing that Antoni Gaudi designed them.
