The Castle of Montjuic, Living History of Barcelona

Since 1640 the Castle of Montjuic is on top of the mountain of Montjuic.

It is situated over 170 meters high, offering the most spectacular views of the Port of Barcelona.

Engineer Juan Martín Cermeño ordered to destroy the ancient fortress of 1640 to convert the fort and shape the buildings afterwards. In the works between 1779 and 1799 the castle took the form it has today.

Today the castle is home to the Military Museum and the Museum of Comic and Illustration.
